An Affordable and Accessible Place for All

Carolina is committed to ensuring that deserving students can study here regardless of their financial circumstances. Need-based scholarships provide high achieving, innovative and creative students with access to all that Carolina has to offer. In addition, these types of awards contribute significantly to the diversity of views and perspectives on campus.

Against this landscape, demonstrated need for our most promising students continues to grow, with nearly half our student body receiving need-based aid. Carolina parents Chris ’82 and Allison Moise stepped up to address this challenge by establishing the Katherine and Anna Moise Scholarship in 2016, named in honor of their daughters Katherine ’12 and Anna ’15. The Moise Scholarship helps to make the Carolina experience a reality for students who may otherwise not be able to attend, with a preference for students studying exercise and sport science or psychology, which represent the majors of their daughters.

Although all students come to campus as bright, talented and hard-working individuals, scholarships help ensure their ultimate success at Carolina and in life. Moise Scholarship recipient Mariah Waters ’23, an exercise and sport science major, said, “This scholarship will help me graduate with an undergraduate degree debt-free. As a low-income student, the generosity of others helping me means the world to me.”

With scholarship support from generous donors like the Moise family, Carolina will remain a leader in the national conversation of affordability for all deserving students for generations to come.
